This Monday 29th April is International Dance Day and what better way to celebrate it than tackling two of the biggest misconceptions out there about dance classes:

‘I need dance experience to take part in dance fitness classes?’

To accomplish a successful workout no previous dance experience is needed! Many people believe that if they have little or no experience then these classes aren’t for them, but you couldn’t be more wrong!

It’s not always about getting every single step correct or feeling every beat to the music. In fact, it’s more focused on technique, just like any other fitness class. You have a leader at the front guiding and leading you every single step of the way. They are there to make sure you get a good and effective workout, ask them questions!

The more classes you attend, the easier it will be to master the moves and you’ll find yourself gaining more and more confidence along the way. Finding a new way to workout does amazing things not only to your body, but also to your mind. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and you’ll never look back.

‘Running will get me a better workout’

You might not be doing a 10K run or interval sprints, but a dance exercise class is just as effective. With little rest between each track, you’re constantly on the move. The classes will also help you be more effective in other fitness classes by forcing to use your mind and muscle connection which helps us become more balanced and coordinated.
